Acne scar treatment in Busan, Seomyeon
Match the treatment to the scar type,
then rebuild texture gradually.

Acne scars can include rolling, boxcar, ice-pick, raised scars, and post-inflammatory color changes. Treatment planning starts by identifying the dominant scar pattern, skin type, active acne status, and acceptable downtime. Depending on the physician's assessment, resurfacing or collagen-remodeling approaches may be combined rather than relying on one method for every scar.

What is Acne Scar Treatment?

Different scars need different approaches.

Acne scar treatment is rarely one-size-fits-all because scar shape and depth differ. Rolling scars are broad depressions that may benefit from collagen remodeling and, in some cases, release of tethering. Boxcar scars have sharper edges and may respond to fractional resurfacing that softens texture over a series. Ice-pick scars are narrow and deep, so focal methods may be considered in addition to resurfacing. Post-inflammatory red or brown marks are a different problem from true depressed scars and may require pigment- or redness-focused care. The treating physician should match the plan to scar morphology, skin type, active acne status, and downtime tolerance.

How it works

The process ,
simplified.

The goal is to identify what is actually creating the uneven texture, then choose an intensity and combination that fit your skin and recovery window.

01

Scar-type assessment

The physician assesses rolling, boxcar, ice-pick, raised scars, post-inflammatory marks, pore texture, active acne, and skin sensitivity before selecting a plan.

02

Preparation & numbing

Topical numbing may be used when appropriate. Preparation depends on the selected treatment, current skincare, medication history, and skin condition.

03

Targeted treatment

Fractional resurfacing, RF microneedling, MTS, Trifill, or other physician-selected approaches may be considered according to the dominant scar pattern and treatment goal.

04

Healing & remodeling

Redness, swelling, dryness, peeling, or pinpoint crusting can occur depending on intensity. Texture improvement develops gradually as the treated skin heals and collagen remodels.

Scar-type planning

Match the scar pattern ,
not just the label.

The same face may contain several scar types. The table below describes common clinical approaches; the exact Newline protocol is decided after examination.

Acne scar types and commonly considered approaches
Scar / concern Common approach Typical planning point Notes
Rolling scars Collagen remodeling; tether-release methods may be considered Series often needed Depth and tethering matter
Boxcar scars Fractional resurfacing / remodeling Intensity varies Sharper edges may need layered care
Ice-pick scars Focal scar methods plus resurfacing may be considered Often staged Very deep narrow scars respond differently
Post-acne red/brown marks Pigment/redness-focused care Separate from depressed scars Sun protection is important
Raised / hypertrophic scars Needs separate medical assessment Not treated like depressed scars Keloid tendency changes planning

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Recent sun exposure or tanning

After your treatment

  • Use only the post-treatment products or ointment recommended by the clinic.
  • Avoid picking, scratching, peeling, or manually removing crusts.
  • Use gentle cleansing and avoid strong exfoliating acids or retinoids until the skin barrier has recovered.
  • Avoid intense heat, saunas, swimming, and heavy exercise for the period advised by the physician.
  • Use broad-spectrum sunscreen and minimize direct sun exposure during healing.
  • Wait until the treated skin has adequately recovered before resuming makeup, according to the procedure-specific instructions.

Frequently asked

Acne Scar Treatment
questions.

How much does acne scar treatment cost at Newline Clinic in Busan?
Confirmed Newline skin-treatment prices that may be relevant to acne-scar planning include Fraxel 1 session ₩150,000, Potenza N Tip 1 session ₩200,000 with tip included, MTS ₩100,000, Trifill ₩100,000, and Rejuran Healer 2cc ₩480,000. The physician decides which option, if any, matches your scar type. Final pricing and combination plans are confirmed at consultation.
How many sessions do I need?
There is no single fixed number for every acne scar pattern. Rolling, boxcar, ice-pick, raised scars, and post-inflammatory marks respond differently, so the treating physician sets the session interval and total number according to scar depth, skin response, downtime tolerance, and the modality used.
Is acne scar treatment painful?
Discomfort depends on the procedure and treatment intensity. Topical numbing may be used when appropriate. RF microneedling and stronger resurfacing can feel more intense than lighter treatments, and the clinic will explain expected sensation before treatment.
What is the recovery time?
Recovery varies by modality and intensity. Temporary redness, swelling, dryness, peeling, pinpoint crusting, or sensitivity can occur. Some patients need only a short recovery window while stronger resurfacing may require several days. Follow the instructions given for the actual treatment you receive.
Will my acne scars completely disappear?
Complete erasure of established scars is uncommon. Treatment aims to soften depth, edges, texture contrast, and associated color changes over time. The realistic degree of improvement depends on scar type, depth, skin quality, and response to treatment.
Can I treat scars while I still have active acne?
Active inflammatory acne often needs to be controlled before aggressive scar procedures are considered. Tell the physician about current breakouts and acne medications, including isotretinoin, so timing can be planned safely.
What about post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or red acne marks?
Red or brown post-acne marks are different from true depressed scars. They may require pigment- or redness-focused care rather than the same treatment used for rolling or boxcar scars. The physician can separate these concerns during assessment.
Is acne scar treatment suitable for darker skin tones?
Many acne-scar treatments can be used in darker skin tones, but settings, treatment depth, spacing, and aftercare may need adjustment because the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation can be higher. Individual assessment is important.
When can I wear makeup again?
It depends on the treatment. Makeup should generally wait until the skin barrier has sufficiently recovered and there is no open, weeping, or heavily irritated skin. Follow the procedure-specific instructions provided by the clinic.
Do you offer English-speaking consultations for acne scar treatment?
Yes. Newline Clinic supports Korean, English, Japanese, and Chinese. You can contact the clinic by WhatsApp and send clear, well-lit photos for booking context; final diagnosis, suitability, device selection, and pricing are confirmed by the treating physician during consultation.
